2. Enjoy Free Music and Entertainment
From mid-June through the end of July, the city of Gatlinburg hosts nightly free entertainment on The Strip as part of the Smoky Mountains Tunes and Tales celebration. During this beloved summertime tradition, the downtown area is filled with musicians, dancers, storytellers, craftspeople, and children's entertainers. The festivities take place each evening from 6 p.m. until around 11 p.m. If you're hoping to hear some of the Smoky Mountains' signature bluegrass music, you'll definitely want to attend this event!
3. View Wildlife
Summer is one of the best time to see all of the beautiful critters that make their home in the Smoky Mountains. Some of the most popular animals in the region include black bears, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and salamanders. With its wide open fields, the Cades Cove section of the national park is a fantastic place for wildlife viewing. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is also a great spot to spy animals while you drive past some of the area’s most breathtaking natural beauty.
4. Relax at Your Cabin
One of our favorite things to do in the Smoky Mountains in the summer is relaxing on the deck of a cabin with beautiful views. What could be better than kicking back in a hot tub and soaking up the scenery while you soak in the water? Located in the foothills of the mountains, our cabins are immersed in nature, yet they are just minutes away from all of the great attractions in town.
