There are tons of attractions and restaurants to visit while on vacation in Gatlinburg. While there are a lot of things to do, Gatlinburg Cabin Rentals has some tips of things you shouldn't do while on vacation.
1. Do Not Eat Out Every Night
Gatlinburg is full of delicious restaurants! It's easy to get carried away wanting to try new food and experiences, but it isn't recommended for your wallet. Save some money by putting the kitchen in your cabin to good use! With local grocery stores in the area you can find everything you need to make a yummy meal on your own! It also gives you the chance to either teach your kids a family recipe, or have a romantic evening with your significant other.
2. Do Not go Taste Moonshine on an Empty Stomach
Drinking a couple of shots out of a communion cup might sound easy to make it through, but we promise the varying alcohol proofs and sugar can easily affect a person! Make sure to eat something before taking on any drinking challenges. You don't want to be known as "that person" with those really embarrassing stories while on vacation in Gatlinburg.
3. Do Not Wear 5 Inch Heels
Gatlinburg is not flat! The strip through town seems relatively flat, but it’s not. Walk around all day in tall heels and you’re feet will be screaming by the end. Also, they won’t serve well if you are looking to go hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
4. Do Not Spit Off the Top of the Gatlinburg Space Needle
The Gatlinburg Space Needle rises 407 feet above Gatlinburg. It offers great views of the Smoky Mountains and of town below. It’s not advised to spit off of the top though. Not only can security on the cameras ask you to leave, but you sure wouldn’t want to be the person on the street below either.
5. Do Not Expect Your Cell Phone to Get Great Service
Cell service in the Great Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg area can be spotty at times, so don’t always expect to have your device running perfectly. This isn’t a bad thing though, spend that time you’d be concentrating on your phone, on your family and friends instead.
6. Do Not Leave Trash Outside your Cabin
It’s not recommended to leave trash outside of your cabin and not in trash bins. Garbage can attract local wildlife, and while you may want to see the wildlife this isn’t the best way to do it. Wildlife can be destructive and end up dependent around humans, which isn’t a healthy thing.
7. Do Not Pick up Furry Hitchhikers
Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains are home to many creatures like black bears, rabbits, chipmunks, and more. However, don’t think it’s okay to claim any of these furry creatures for your own. The probably won’t enjoy your home, and you probably won’t care for their manners either.
8. Do Not Forget to Pack Water When You Hike
Hiking in the Smokies is one of the most popular things to do in Gatlinburg. Whether strolling down a flat hike or trekking up to Mt. LeConte water is a necessity! Hydration level is important when taking on any physical activity.
9. Do Not try to Stick Your Hand in the Shark Tank at Ripley’s
The Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a very popular attraction to go visit while on vacation in Gatlinburg. They are home to all kinds of marine life like spider crabs, sharks, penguins, and more. Their shark tank is open at the top so visitors can look down inside. Do not try to be the person who reaches down to touch a shark, or get that cool picture angle.
10. Do Not Order Waffles at a Pancake House
Pancakes are a delicious Southern staple for breakfast. You’ll find several pancake houses in Gatlinburg, and ordering waffles at a pancake house is like ordering a taco at an Italian restaurant.
Of all the things not to do on vacation, the number one thing you should do is stay at Gatlinburg Cabin Rentals! Gatlinburg Cabin Rentals can offer amenities like full kitchens, jacuzzis, and more when searching for the best cabin with everything you need while on vacation in Gatlinburg.
